nailtechfriend The size tags says 14M. You have these listed as 14W. Typo?

okliisak @nailtechfriend - thank you for pointing that out. I’ll explain in several messages as well as I can to help you understand what the tag implies:

okliisak @nailtechfriend - Misses vs. Juniors: Misses use even numbers such as 2, 4, 6 for a mature, curvier individual, while Juniors use odd numbers such as 1, 3, 5 for a slimmer, less developed, and straighter figure. Misses vs. Women's: Misses are generally for an average figure, while Women's sizes (often marked W) are for a fuller, more mature, and curvier figure.

okliisak @nailtechfriend - Not to add any confusion, POSH DOES NOT have a category for MISS therefore by default I put them under Woman’s simply because they are definitely not a JUNIOR fit. Having learned this the hard way from poshers who list their items as a jr size when in reality (and my detriment having purchased) should have been an M or W. I hope this clarifies your question and now I ask were you interested in them? I’ll give you a great deal If you truly were…

nailtechfriend 14W is a plus size. 14M is a regular Misses size 14 with medium length. I am looking for 14W. And, my search brought me here because that's how you had them listed. I know about odd/even number sizing, and you're right, posh does have a Jr. category, but not a misses.

okliisak @nailtechfriend - I came across this regarding (I’m guessing) Miss sizing: Size ranges Why break the size range into a smaller, missy range and a larger plus women’s range at all? The break in size ranges has to do with the proportions of the pattern. As the body gets larger, the proportions change. You can’t achieve as good of a fit for the extreme small proportions and the extreme large proportions grading up and down from the same pattern.

okliisak Continued: Pattern grading changes the size of the pattern, but can’t change the proportions and shape of the pattern very effectively. It is best to split the pattern into the missy range pattern and a plus range pattern to create a consistent fit across all sizes. A missy range can cover sizes 00-20 of numeric sizes or XXS-XXL of alpha sizes. Plus ranges can cover 14W-40W or 0X to 6X-8X depending on the grade rule. .

okliisak Continued: There can be overlap between the two ranges. A size 14 from the missy range and a size 14W from the plus range can have the same bust measurement, but other measurements will differ. The plus range usually has a fuller waist, thigh, and bicep compared to the same size in the missy range. Larger brands often have a few overlapping sizes like this to be able to fit the proportions of more customers.

okliisak Continued: Smaller brands usually choose a size to break from the missy to the plus sizing with minimal overlap to simplify the number of sizes or to focus on their unique niche customer. Article found at: https://alisonhoenes.com/2023
